Hello everyone whi is reading this. And welcome to my blog. Anyone is welcome to read this.
First of all i need to introduce myself and tell you a bit about me.
My name is Katie. I am 18. I am hard of hearing/deaf. I was diagnosed with a hearing loss at age 4. But most likely i was born with a hearing loss. My left ear has a moderate hearing loss and my left ear has around about a severe hearing loss. which is bothersome because i can hear better in my let ear and not so good in my right. At the age of 6 i got my first hearing aid. I only got one hearing aid and thats for my right ear, because at the time my audiologist thought my left ear was ok enough (not bad/worse enough) not to have a hearing aid.that one hearing aid for my left ear opened me up to a world of sound. The day after i got my hearing aid, my mum made me wear my hearing aid into school (i had short hair). When i went into the classroom i was teased, bullied, picked on, etc. because I am deaf /hoh. So for about 6 months i kept taking my hearing aid out, but the teacher and teacher of the deaf put the hearing aid back in my ear and reassured me that everything was going to be alright. But it wasnt. After those 6 months i realized that i needed to wear it continously to hear everything around me and hear and understand what people are saying. So after those 6 months, i started wearing it all the time in and out of school. Before i got my hearing aid i was told i had a deaf accent but i think thats all gone now, thanks to the hearing aid and speech therapy. I did a lot of speech therapy when i was younger. When i was 10 i was proud that am deaf/hoh and liked wearing my hearing aid. That has changed from the age of 12.
Anyways im a nce, person who is quite shy. and if you have any questions for my about my hearing loss, hearing aids, etc either post them to me on here or send them to my email and i will answer them honestly.
And if your still reading thank you :)
